TRAINING PROGRAM ON
OVEN/FURNACE SAFETY


Objective:

Course is designed to provide basic knowledge of safe operation of heating plants and emergency procedures to be followed by non-operating personnel.

What will this course offer to your organization?

This basic safety information training provides the participants with an overall look at a Oven/Furnace and heating plant operation, and explains the requirements of the Indian Oven/Furnace Rules and Safety Regulations. This one-day training will prepare your staff to help improve the knowledge and skills of the plant operating employees so they are better prepared to respond to failures in your plant. Your organization will be one step ahead of others in the process of Plant safety audits.

The training is designed to meet the needs of small and medium sized commercial, industrial facilities and other operations that utilize steam and/or hot water systems for heating or process.

Upon completion of this training and successful passing of the test at the end of the training the attendees will receive a "Certificate of Attendance" from Consultants. All candidates for a "Oven/Furnace Basic Safety Awareness" Certificate of Qualification must pass the test.

Learning Outcome:

The training is presented in an easy going manner and augmented with many examples, photos and is intended to teach persons with little or no experience the basics of building heating systems plant theory, operation and plant safety. The course provides students with information on potential Oven/Furnace accidents and , possible solutions.


Course Goals:

To provide essential knowledge to a person who may be required to be in attendance of a steam or hot water Oven/Furnace heating or process plant in a General Supervision Status

Course outline:

  • Indian Oven/Furnace Acts and Rules - General discussion on the requirements of the Code
  • Types of Oven/Furnaces and processes
  • Description of typical steam and hot water heating systems
  • System start-up and shut-down
  • Emergency shut-down of Oven/Furnace equipment
  • Signs and operating procedures
  • Safety relief piping and valves
  • Duties and responsibilities of a Oven/Furnace attendants/operators
  • Safe practices and safety equipment in a Oven/Furnace plant
  • Fire protection equipment and classes of fires
  • Reports and record keeping, Log books and how to use them
  • Reporting of accidents or incidents in a plant
  • Duties and responsibilities of a Plant Safety Committee

Course type:

This course is offered as a classroom course, as well as on-site at your location.


Course evaluation

Attendees will complete a 50-question multiple choice type examination at the end of the training. The preparatory examination is typically marked and discussed in class to further develop knowledge and reinforce material taught.
